- 2 bananas
- ½ cup iced coffee
- 5 heaping tablespoons cacao powder
- 1½ tablespooons cacao sweet nibs
- ½ cup peanut butter
- ½ cup greek yogurt
- 4 large leaves kale
- 1 bag frozen pineapple chunks
- add all ingredients to blender and blend. serve immediately!
Hi, and welcome back. Today we’re gonna make a mocha kale smoothie, believe it or not.
This is a recipe that I’ve struggled with for a long time, to find a way to make it taste delicious, and I finally did.
Alright: Ingredients run-through: typical kale, banana, peanut butter, and yogurt – which I use in a lot of smoothies – but this time we’re gonna add cacao powder, cacao sweet nibs, and iced coffee. This is a brand I like, it’s called Chameleon. I don’t know if they sell it in your town, but if they do, get some of this cuz it’s good!
Alright: without further adieu, let’s put the banana in first. That sounds like a good idea.
I’m using two bananas, because I want this recipe to be as sweet and delicious as possible, and since we’re puttin’ coffee in there – which is something that can have sort of a bitter taste to it – we wanna counteract that as much as possible.
So we’re gonna put a little of this iced coffee in there. This stuff is really concentrated, so you only need about half a cup in there. There we go. Yeah, half a cup.
Here’s the cacao powder, we’re gonna put in about – how much is that? – that’s probably like 5 tablespoons. Let’s say 5 heaping tablespoons.
And my favorite of favorites – I love these things so much; I could just eat ’em straight out of the bag – cacao sweet nibs. We’re gonna put maybe one and a half tablespoons in there.
Ok. Now we’re gonna put a healthy dol-lop of peanut butter in there. That’s lookin’ like about half a cup. yeah. Delish.
And, we’re gonna put about half a cup of greek yogurt in there. Aw yeah. Lots of protein in there, very good for you.
Last but not least, the kale. Whole bunch of kale. Big ol’ leaves. Of kale. Remember to always de-stem your kale, cuz the stem is what has all the bitterness in it. Don’t want things to be bitter!
Oh! Almost forgot: pineapple chunks. We’re gonna put these nice, delicious, sweet, frozen things in here, and that’s gonna keep the smoothie nice and cold. There we go.
Okee dokey, smokey, let’s blend this.
Alright: now – as I’m fond of saying – ain’t nothin’ left to do but to drink it. Pour it in a glass, and let’s see how that tastes. Mmmmm. Now that’s good mocha. Mmmm.
So as you can see here, we’ve got more than a couple of servings. You can probably fill 2 1/2 glasses with this. So if you’re gonna make this recipe, make sure you’ve got some friends around to share it with!
