That is a pretty neat trick. I will have to try it. I have spent quite a bit of time peeling ginger with a knife carefully so I dont lose a lot of the ginger. Thanks

  2. Ahhh that’s a really good tip!!!! I’ve always wondered how people peel ginger without wasting so much of it (when using a knife). Thanks for sharing.

lol Oh was I supposed to peel the ginger b4 tossing into the juicer! lol Thanks!

    • Hey Dawn,

As far as I know it’s not necessary to peel anything before you put it in a juicer, because juicers generally separate all of a vegetable or fruit’s solid from its liquid matter.

For smoothies (for which you would use a blender instead), it really depends on the blender. Using my Blendtec, I’ve recently discovered that I can just throw a thumb of ginger in without peeling it, as the skin is reduced to almost nothingness so I can’t taste or feel its texture anymore. But with a lesser blender, you’re probably better off peeling it. That’s my two cents. Hope it helps!

ginger peel is completely edible. I just give it a few chops and throw it in the blender (and only because I have a cheap blender; if I had a vitamix, I’d just toss in the whole chunk)

    • Hey Joseph,

You know what? I recently discovered the same thing; now I just throw the whole ginger chunk in there without peeling it. Maybe I’ll make a video on how not to peel ginger next. 🙂

      Thanks for sharing!
